RE: "T" TOPS and Winglets

LOL ... and Yes,  well .. No, the color is the same, kinda,  I just had a clear coat put on it, BUT ... I added a bunch of Rich Gold flake to that,  it has more color than you can imagine,  every time I make a turn the boat seems to change color in the rear view mirror.

Those latches are rare, but there is a fellow up by Tulsa Ok that has got a very close resemblance to them from a catalogue,, thats Clyde,  you can catch up with him on the BigFinBoats forum.  I don't use those,  they jiggle loose, I use Velcro,  never lost one.

Actually I was referring to the gelcoat colour hehe. Just heard back from Doug at Eaton, so thanks for that. Do you have any idea where I might find a pair of the latches for the t-tops? I have two new tops, but only 1 set of latches. I'll try and find that prop info for ya toight after work, kinda slipped my mind on the weekend as the honey-do list was rather pressing.

I kinda think the color of the tops are a little darker now,  the original tops seemed to have a little more green in them.

I know this is an older thread, but could you give me the contact info of the business that sell the winglets? I have a broken one on my '81 that I need to replace. Thanks
Daryl

"T" TOPS and Winglets

I got a call from Frankie this morning about the Price of the "t" tops and winglets, he has had a few inquiries about them in the last few months that think the price is just too high.  I told Frankie I would post the price and reasoning here on the forum.

Frankie is the plant manager for the oldest
(since 1945) largest plastics fabrication plant in this area, he don't own the place.  The fabrication shop rates are $75 an hour and they stay back logged with work.  The "t" tops and winglets are cut and formed from a 4' X 8' sheet of 1/4" smoked arcrylic material that cost them almost $60, it takes most of the sheet to do it because the parts are vacumn formed and must have sufficient over lay to skirt the molds. There are six molds used to create an order, the "t"tops are not identical,  there is a right and left side,  reqiuring each a mold and they have compound curvature,  they are not flat.  The next step is to cut off the skirt, trim and polish the parts to the exact size of the original parts (from my boat)
that I gave him to compare with.  They don't sell enough of these parts to keep a vacumn table set up all the time for them, or the time and effort to maintain stock, Frankie has to set up a table and oven each time he gets an order  I don't make a single dime when he sells the parts, and Frankie give's us the best price he can to fabricate the parts.  One of members here called the owner of the company to get a better price and was even more surprized when Doug gave them a price quite a bit more than Frankie had quoted them.

The price of the "t"tops are $140 each and the price of the winglets are $120 each   When Frankie made the first order for us, he cut us a little better price because I ordered 10 of the "t"tops and 12 of the winglets in that order, and all were sold.   Since that order Frankie  has made up and sold several sets, shipping cost will be added to every order.
