Been working on Barb's boat  "Burning Daylight" Here's a Link to the updates, looks like we may do another Lake Test Wednsday or Thursday,  Hoping the wind is moderate, not loke the 25+ we had for the shakedown run,  That was Rough.

got the exhaust tubes on it today, with reducers from the 4" to 3"  and had to modify the spark arrestor to fit under the engine cover .. that was a trick, but it fit's

I been working on the flotation boxes today, should get them finished tomorrow. I left a space in the port side box for the tilt/trim pump, and a space for the battery in the starboard box, Barb has requested a slide out of some sort for the battery, and I agree, it was pretty difficult to remove and replace the battery where it was located, just forward of the port side of the engine, there is not enough room between the exhaust manifolds, hoses and the engine deck for the battery to be put through, so it must go in front of the engine.  I have changed location of the battery to the starboard side, nearer the starter, and will be installing an isolation switch near the battery also.

transom just about finished, filled the  "hip pockets" with foam, sealed the hull seam with 3M 5200, will get to the flotation boxes today I think.

Hey Steve .. there is really plenty of room to work on one of these hull with-out a "split"  I'd not recomend splitting it, there would be a bit of a problem seperating the rear of the hull, it is actually glassed together up under the back where the exhaust pipes are.  I think it would be more work to split the hull than it would to worth, I crawled up under the bow of this one to drill holes and start injecting the foam, there wasn't room to sit up, but there is enough room to work.

When I get done with this one, I will create a web page with a link, and all the pic's.

pardon me, doctor Red...

if you don't mind, some pics of this part of the operation please, I have this to look forward to with mine.

my "patient" is not pretty on the outside like yours, so I don't have to be as gentle. I haven't decided if I'll split mine when I do it, but I think I probably will just so it's easier. lots of time to think about it though, other projects ahead of it.

wish I was closer, that whole powertrain would serve me well!

found a soft spot ... the "hip pockets" had water trapped and soaked into the transom like a wick on a lamp, guess we all know what to do with that,  looks like it will be a few more days before this proceedure is completed.

The proceedure began today, but further examination of the patient revealed some soft tissue under the back seat.  We decided to do some exploatory surgery to evaluate the extent of damage caused by some foreign H2o substance that had accumalated under the floor, we removed all the damaged tissue, some saturated foam mass, and cleaned up the effected area.  There was only minimal damage actually, we removed most of the floor just to be sure all the contaminated tissue had been revealed. The engine will be removed in the morning, and further examination of the subject will be conducted in the bilge area.

"Burnin Dalight"   was checked into Pre-Op today, awaiting the transplant, she is resting peacefully in a warm and cozy shop ... (well, warmer than outside)
her recently aquainted friend, and Doner  "Reds Gold"  (abit nervous about the proceedure)  is patiently waiting right outside the door.
The procedure is scheduled to begin Monday, and should only take about ten days, according to the physition and his assistant.
