RE: Scimitar stringers & transom

Ahoy Red,  Thanks for the input on my transom rework. I will plan to call you on this comming Tuesday evening to discuss the concerns you expressed here on the forum. One thing is for sure,I am not an expert in this arena, and what I am attempting to do with the "sea board"[instead of ply wood] is  all together theoretical on my part.confuse With much appreciation, Pelican Bill wink

Scimitar stringers & transom

Hey Bill ... I meant to comment on the pictures you posted and I just plain forgot, and it seems thats what I do best enymore, is forget.  Anyway,  I was wanting to comment on the pictures you posted showing that white plactic you added, it looks like a teflon material.

I'm certainly no expert in design, but it seems to me, that ply extending completetly across, side to side, there is a definate reinforcement to the hull and transom shell.  These boats are not very tough, the hull is light weight and flexible,  I "think" those pieces you put in there with screws and  nuts could comprimise the integrity of the of the transom shell and hull sides, just my opinion of course.  That 1/2 ply that was in the boat to begin with, woud keep the sides of the hull from flexing, kinda like spreading, therefore reinforces the bottom of the hull.  I would think, what you have there could cause fatigue and cracking in the hull back there.
