Hi Martin ! 

I got a bunch of pictures when I done mine, and I'd bet you need to do the same job if the floor is soft up front,  most often, as it seems to me, the rot begins in the back of these boats, beginning in those boxes you mentioned.  Those boxes are there to contain flotation to float the back of the boat if it needs too, however, surprizing as it may seem that foam absorbs the water that gets trapped in there and gets real heavy,  I take them out anyway, lot's easier to work on the motor, and I added more foam under the floor for the flotation.   I replaced the stringers also,  I added more re-inforcement to the bottom of the boat and the stringers while I was in there,  these boats hulls are really thin so I made mine pretty rigid by adding more fiberglass and shooting it full of foam as I layed the floor. 

You can replace the portion of the floor from the from the dash back, but, if your boat is soft up front,  you got to split the hull to get to the ski locker floor and the center stringers, or cut out the storage doors to get up in there and it would be some tight area to work in.  There is foam blocks stuffed up in there under the storage floor, it those are wet you you got a lot of weight there also.  Check out these pic's.  http://www.olered.com/RedsScimitar.html

It took me 34 days to complete this project on my boat but I probably done more work than you'd want to do.  When I done the transom I made some modifications back there that took a few more days work, but it picked up the speed of the boat about 5 or 6 miles an hour by doing it.

Hi all, could someone tell me how to know if I need to change the floor and any other wood structure in my scimitar.

The floor when the passenger seat is a bit soft when I jump a bit. If I do change it do I have to remove the top of the boat completely,(looks like a big job) or can I change from the dash down?

Do I need to brace the boat from the outside before cutting the fiberglass and remove the old wood?

If I do change it, how big of a job is it? Is this expensive to do (wood and all)

the more info I can get before I start the better.

Also I notice some of your pictures did not have the 2 boxes on each side of the engine, is that a different year model or is that a common modification.
