Veterans Day Boat Parade

The last two years my buddy Mike (bobber mike) and I have put up a flag pole on the Scimitar flying the American Flag around  lake Hefner in honor of our veterans.   The first year we put up a small metal pole attached to the boat with a 3ft X 5ft flag, I was gonna do a fly-by the restraunts and the little pole bent double right in the middle.  Last year we secured a 12ft fiberglass pole flying a 9 1/2 X 5ft  flag that is very special to me,  it was placed in my dad's honor by the United States Army 16 years ago.  I joined the Army in 1967 and by the grace of God I quess,  I was awarded an honorable discharge in July 1970.

Mike will not be able to make it to lake Hefner this year with me because he is stationed in Kuwait serving a tour of duty with the United States Navy.  I'm going to miss Mike,  but I'm going to carry on with the parade of the flag in honor of all our veterans who are serving, have served, and to those that have givin their life to protect this great country.

With this post, I am inviting any of you that would want to participate in such a parade to join me at Lake Hefner this Wednsday evening, November 11th,  for a 5:00pm departure from the docks by the ranger station.  I will be decorating my boat with red, white and blue christmas lights,  flying the flag,  and cruising around the lake by the parks and restraunts on the lake.  The weather is suposed to be real nice, a light breeze, just a little cool after sundown.
